The Wilde Pedicure focuses on removing some of the dead skins from your toes and making it look beautiful. The Wellness Pedicure is much different in its approach. As a Certified Master Pedicurist, we combine our advanced education of specialized foot and nail care to provide you clean and healthy toenails. It is used to address problems in the feet such as cracked heels, nail discoloration, involuted nails etc. Often referred to as a medical pedicure, the Wellness Pedicure is often recommended for athletes, diabetic patients, dancers, doctors, and nurses etc.
In addition to stress reduction, regular pedicure treatments can help prevent excessively dry skin on the feet. Cracked dry skin is subject to infection. Good moisturizing and regular attention to areas of stress on the feet can help prevent calluses.
To keep your feet happy and healthy, a professional pedicure should be scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks. As everyone’s body and lifestyle are unique, this answer largely depends on these factors. Ideally, you should get a pedicure (at a minimum) at least once a month.
Yes of course they do! Although many men may believe that pedicures are unnecessary and frivolous, the fact is there are many good reasons why men should take care of their feet.
Having a pedicure helps improve the health of your feet and your body over all. A thorough pedicure helps get rid of dirt under the toenails and exfoliates dead skin which can cause serious problems. Among these problems are offensive foot odour, cracked and dry skin and fungal infections.
Additionally, having nails regularly trimmed and shaped prevents the very painful problem of ingrown toenails. Having a pedicure can help a man look his best from head to toe because of the actual active treatment and because of the overall stress reducing properties a good pedicure provides.
It is safe to polish your toenails and your fingernails when you are pregnant. Be sure to only do so in well ventilated areas. A full pedicure can be very beneficial to you during pregnancy because it helps reduce stress and improves circulation in the feet and lower legs.
You may sometimes hear shellac pedicures referred to as gel pedicure. These terms indicate the type of nail polish that is used. A lasting nail polish that is cured using a UV lamp can be called a shellac polish or a gel polish.
It is best not to shave your legs right before a pedicure. The scrubs used can cause an irritation and sometimes burn. When we shave we microscopy cut ourselves so if you are at a salon that you aren’t 100% sure about the way they clean the pedicure tub you could be introducing bacteria into your system. It is best that you shave AFTER you pedicure. We don’t mind hairy legs, I promise, plus after your pedicure, you will get a closer shave. But if you insist on shaving before, do it at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Calluses are there for a reason! You never want to “remove” calluses from your feet completely. Instead, gently bring it down with a pedicure file. Since calluses are our skin’s protective mechanism, once the calluses are removed, the skin will go into “shock” and build that callus back up as fast as it can to protect that area. So “removing” callus is a VERY temporary solution, which could result in sore feet and even worse callus growth following your pedicure.
Have you ever been shaving your legs with a razor and accidentally cut your skin and started bleeding? Often times you don’t even know how it happened. Well, the same can happen when someone is using a blade on your feet. Razor blades are not meant for your skin and can too easily cut too deep, leaving you with more than you bargained for.
Regular nail polishes are like paint and dries quickly. However the gel nail polish (or commonly referred to as shellac), as the name suggests, is a gel compound. The gel nail polish requires curing or drying under a LED lamp. UV rays are also used to cure the gel nail polish. Gel nail polish is being increasingly used these days due to its ability to last long and resist chipping. It has a glossy surface and is a soak-off product.
This can cause some confusion, but strictly speaking, they are the same thing. A ‘gel polish manicure’ is the general term that covers all brands of gel polish whereas Shellac is a specific brand of gel polish made by CND. All gel polish brands have a slightly different formulas because they are made by different companies, but they all do the same thing!
Gel nail polish lasts for up to 3-4 weeks without chipping. This increases the gap between your salon visits saving you time and money. It is non-porous which means that it does not let moisture into your nails. With a glassy finish, gel nail polish looks very classic and has zero drying time after it has been cured under an LED lamp.

Standard polish isn’t designed to last as long as gel polish, so you’re likely looking at up to a week before you start to see wear and tear if you care for your manicure properly. Standard polish is a great choice for your pedicure as it tends to last longer on the toenails and can sometimes last up until your next pedicure in 4 weeks time.
Gel polish is very difficult to remove with standard nail polish remover and if you peel it off it can damage your nails. It is always advisable to book in for a professional removal and it usually takes between 15-20 minutes. This involves applying pads soaked with acetone to your nails then left to soak in foil wraps for 10-15 minutes. This is followed by gently removing the last of the polish with an orangewood stick and then applying a nail strengthener before you are ready to go!
“Jewels Not Tools!” It’s the motto of all nail technicians (in other words don't use your nails to open condiment containers or pry the lids off of things, etc.). Avoid getting your nails wet for too long (like doing the dishes or wearing gloves), avoid coming into contact with chemicals for prolonged periods of time (cleaning solutions) and don't pick or peel your polish off under any circumstanbce. FInally, apply cuticle oil morning and night if you can. This will keep your nails super healthy throughout the duration of your manicure.
Cuticle oil is perfect for maintaining your nail health in-between manicure appointments. Not only does it smell heavenly, but it keeps your nails and the skin around them in tip-top condition. It intensively moisturizes and leaves the nail bed very healthy, which encourages your nails to grow. Nail plates can get dehydrated very easily, but cuticle oil application is such an easy way to avoid this, leaving you with beautiful nails!
Yes, I highly recommend that you make an appointment before coming to the salon. As this is a home-based business all appointments need to be scheduled in advance in order to accommodate you properly. Making a prior appointment means that I will be able to prepare for your treatment and give you my best service.
